Kogi Flood: FG Flags-off Distribution Of Over 19,000 Bags Of Fertilizer To Farmers

The Federal Government has flagged off the distribution of 19, 508 bags of fertilizers to farmers affected by 2018 flooding in five LGAs of Kogi State.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Faruq during the Flag off ceremony in Lokoja, said the bags of fertilizers would be distributed to Omala, Ibaji, Bassa, Kogi and Igalamela Local Government Areas of Kogi state.

She said the fertilizers would be distributed by the ministry through National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to farmers to cushion the effect of the 2018 flooding that occurred in Kogi State and other States of the federation.

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Hon. Edward David Onoja, who flagged off the distribution on behalf of the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for the gesture.

He promised that the fertilizers would be effectively utilised and distributed accordingly as specificied by the minister to affected beneficiaries in the five LGAs.

Also flagged off, was the roll out of Agricultural inputs to be distributed to farmers in Kogi and nationwide as part of the Federal Government’s palliatives to cushion the effect of Covid-19 pandemic.

In his remarks, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammed Sabo Nanono, said the agricultural inputs were part of federal government’s palliatives to reduce the impact of COVID-19 and ensure food security across the country.

The Minister urged the beneficiaries to use the agricultural inputs judiciously to make food abundantly available in the country in order to defeat the negative impacts of Covid-19 in the country.

Also present at the occasion was the Director General of NEMA, Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed rtd, officials of both the Ministeries of Agriculture and Humanitarian Affairs.

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has approved the appointment of
Mohmoh Abdul Lasis as his Personal Assistant to replace the deceased Honourable Suleiman Abdulateef Adinoyi.

Similarly, Ariyo Adebayo has been relieved of his appointment as the SSA Security in charge of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area with immediate effect while
Olorunleke Moses, the SSA political in charge of Kabba /Ijumu Federal Constituency has been redeployed as SSA Security in charge of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area.

Adeyemi Olabode John is to take over as the SSA political Kabba/Ijumu Federal Constituency.

In a statement signed by Secretary to Kogi State Government, Doctor Ayoade Folashade, all appointments take immediate effect.
