How Liverpool Could Line Up Against Man Utd As Key Players Return
16 October 2019 Sport
Everything in Liverpool’s garden is pretty rosy right now, but there are few clubs who would love to change that more than Manchester United .
On Sunday, the Red Devils stand in the Merseysiders’ way of making it nine wins from nine in the Premier League this season, as surely English football’s biggest and best game takes place at Old Trafford.
United fans might not be enjoying themselves too much at the moment, but the fact that Liverpool have gone so long without winning the top-flight title is something that continually fills them with joy.
All that could change come the end of this season though.
Eight points clear at the top of the table, there have been few times in living memory that the Reds have looked this strong, and there is gathering hope that a first league title since 1990 could really be a possibility this season.
A win at United would only strengthen that belief, and Jurgen Klopp can welcome the return of some big names as he seeks a first win there after four failed attempts.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker will return to the side for his first appearance since a calf injury in the opening game of the season against Norwich City, with impressive understudy Adrian making way.
Joel Matip will also come back into the team after he missed the Champions League win over Red Bull Salzburg, in which Joe Gomez played, and the Premier League win against Leicester City, which Dejan Lovren started.
Mohamed Salah picked up a late injury in that game, but he looks set to start after being put on a special training regime at Melwood this week.
As is often the case with Liverpool there will be question marks over midfield selection, but Klopp seems likely to go with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum, ensuring that the XI that began June’s Champions League final victory over Tottenham will be together again for the first time this season.
