26 June 2017 News
Management of House on the Rock Church, Abuja, has expressed appreciation to God for lack of human fatalities and casualties on the fire that gutted the church on Sunday, 25th June, 2017. It also thanked everyone who helped in putting out the fire.
The church management said this in a statement released on June 26, 2017, in reaction to the fire incident at the facilities used by the Abuja daughter church of the House On The Rock.
According to the management of House on The Rock Church, “Thankfully, this occurred in the afternoon after all those who attended the mid-year Thanksgiving Service in the morning had departed the premises. We remain profusely grateful to the Sovereign and Almighty God that there were no human fatalities or casualties.
It commended the swift co-ordinated response of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA,) the Federal Fire Service Abuja, National Judicial Institute (NJI), the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Julius Berger, the House On The Rock staff and members, and several friends and well-wishers of the house who responded to the incident and contributed in no small way to the containment and eventual extinguishing of the fire. We commend the professionalism of all the first responders and thank them for the invaluable service they rendered, the management added.
“Though some parts of the complex were damaged by the fire; weekly services will continue as usual, as the presently used service sanctuary remains unaffected, the statement added.
The Management informed that it is working with relevant authorities and consultants to ensure the structural integrity of the affected building, even as it seeks to determine the root cause of the unfortunate incident.
House On The Rock therefore expressed her gratitude to all, who, in spite of the inconvenience of the torrential rainfall, were available to render assistance, encouragement and moral support during the incident; adding that their prayers, love and moral support expressed in various correspondences are truly and very deeply appreciated.
The statement enjoined all members, friends and guests to remain calm as it solicits their continued prayers in this season.
It urged all to be comforted by what the Scripture says in Romans 8:28 : “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Sundiata Post recalls that the Abuja branch of House on The Rock was gutted by fire at around 2 pm on sunday shortly after the mid-year service that took place at the church auditorium.
