Herdsmen Strike Again,Kill 3 People In Plateau State
Three people have in Rikwe Chongu village in Miango district of Bassa local government area, Plateau state lost their lives in the hands of alleged herdsmen.
The three were returning from a mine site when they were attacked.
A survivor, Sunday Samson, said the attackers bore AK 47rifles, which they used to kill two and used a machete to kill the third one and severe his head.
Some community leaders in the area, called on the government to exhibit sincerity and seriousness in halting the continuous attacks on innocent members of the community.
Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Police PRO, ASP Terna Tyopev, said the commissioner of police has since deployed security personnel to the area to beef up security and restore normalcy.
The latest attack comes just days after the Irigwe Development Association, the umbrella body of the Irigwe nation issued a press statement, calling for vigilance, especially by security agencies,adding that attacks such as this were eminent following a release by the Miyyeti Allah cattle breeders association, MACBAN which had alleged lost of cattle around the area.
The community members who denied the claims had viewed the earlier statement as a move to justify attacks such as the latest one.
Also, just last year, over seventy People were killed from various night attacks and houses razed.
Many are yet to return to their homes which lie in ruin.
