Herdsmen Attacks: NEMA Donates Relief Materials To IDPs In Benue

Officials from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA have arrived Benue State with assorted relief materials for people displaced by the recent herdsmen attacks.

Acting Director, Relief and Rehabilitation of NEMA, Mr. Kayode Fagbemi who led the team in place of the Director General of the Agency presented themselves to Governor Samuel Ortom at Benue People’s House, Makurdi.

Mr. Fagbemi listed the relief materials brought by the agency to include rice, maize, milk, palm oil, groundnut oil, salt, noodles, detergents, mosquito nets, blankets, women and men cloths.

He assured that the team would work with the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA to ensure proper distribution of the materials and carry out assessment of what the IDPs need further so that they can be provided.

Mr. Fagbemi commended the proactive measures taken by Governor Samuel Ortom to end the crisis and expressed the hope that the unfortunate incidence would be the last in the state.

Receiving the NEMA team, Governor Samuel Ortom appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for directing the agency to bring relief materials for the over sixty thousand people displaced by the crisis.

Correspondent Terna Injua reports that, Governor Ortom who stated that five camps have been opened for the IDPs expressed the optimism that after the assessment by the NEMA team more support from the agency would come for them,
