Guests on “Politics Today ” a Kapital FM Current Affairs programme have called for the implementation of electoral laws in the country.
One of the guests, a pioneer Director of a civil society organisation, Voter Education and Inter- Party Advisory council, Mr Akinloye Oyeniyi who stressed the need for good governance said the move would go a long way in addressing the challenges in our electoral system.
“When someone is being arrested for committing electoral fraud and the person is jailed it serves as a lesson to the person that committed such an offence” he said.
Mr Oyeniyi while discussing on the topic “Voting amidst fear of political thuggery and other challenges confronting elections” appealed to electorates and politicians to be patriotic and desist from political thuggery and electoral vices .
Also another Guest the former Chairman of Alliance National party Mr Asiwaju shittu advised electorates on the need to exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.
Mr Shittu also called on the National orientation agency to step up its efforts on educating the electorates in the country.
“This National orientation Agency has a big role to play to turn over this country as our youths would learn a lot as sensitization is a continuous process”.
The guests called for more enlightenment and sensitization programmes on the dangers of electoral violence in the country.
