Governor El-Rufai Tests Positive For Covid-19

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, said he has tested positive for the coronavirus.

He made the announcement via a video posted on his verified Twitter handle on Saturday evening.

“According to the Governor, Earlier this week, I submitted a sample for the COVID-19 test, the result came in this evening, and I regret to say that it is positive.

“He said according to the protocols for managing COVID-19, i am in self-isolation as required by the case management guidelines of the NCDC for someone that is not showing symptoms.

“I wish to appeal to the people of Kaduna State to continue to closely observe the preventive measures already announced.

“It is most important that everybody should do their utmost to stay safe, stay home and stay alive”.

Governor El-rufai added that the Deputy Governor is chairing the COVID-19 Taskforce and will continue to issue statements from time to time.

Mallam El-rufai is the second governor to test positive for the virus.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed announced that he had tested positive to the virus earlier this week, and days later, a close friend of his also tested positive.

With this development, coronavirus has now spread to 12 states in Nigeria with 97 confirmed cases.
