Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has commenced inspection of projects initiated by his administration in Makurdi metropolis.
Among the projects inspected were a complete refurbished Saint Theresa Primary School in Wurukum, rehabilitated portions on Makurdi Gboko road and the reconstructed Pever Agenga street in Logo Two.
Speaking with newsmen after the inspection, Governor Ortom said the purpose of the exercise was to have first hand knowledge of the execution of the projects having been briefed by the contractors.
He particularly stated that Government has paid another six point three billion naira to the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC and was expecting six point six billion from the commission which would be channeled to schools that could not benefit from the earlier contracts.
The Governor expressed worry over the attitude of some contractors who have breached the terms of their contracts by abandoning some out of the over seven hundred primary schools and directed them to refund the money or be handed over to relevant agencies for prosecution.
Governor Ortom earlier paid a visit on the wife of one of his Personal Assistants who was attacked by armed men in a private hospital in North Bank where he helped in settling the medical bills of other inmates.
