The Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC is seeking the support of the Nigeria Police to stop the use of spy number plate and number plate coverage as part of measure to check criminal activities in the country.
The Corps Marshal of FRSC Dr Boboye Oyeyemi stated this while receiving the Acting Inspector General of Police Mr, Usman Baba who paid a visit to the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja.
He maintained that indiscriminate use of siren by private individuals are of great concern to the Commission.
While appreciating the support of the Nigeria Police in ensuring safety of FRSC Formations across the country and prompt response during emergency Dr Oyeyemi called for more synergy in intelligence sharing to enhance security network in the country.
He also commended the Nigeria Police for the professional way in investigating and arresting the kidnappers that abducted and killed some FRSC Personnel in Nasarawa state while on their way for a course in Enugu.
Dr Oyeyemi pledged that FRSC would continue to make available its National Data Base to all security agencies in tracking Stolen vehicles and other issues threatening national security.
In a remark, the Acting Inspector General of Police Mr Usman Baba pledged to support the proposed Redesigning of Spy number plate and other initiatives that would assist the Police in checking criminalities.
The Acting Inspector General of Police however advocated for more collaboration in the area of capacity building to make Nigeria road safer for socio economic activities.
