FRCS To Provide Training For Officials On Efficient Traffic Control In 2018
The Federal road safety commission FRSC is to provide training for officials of state traffic management agencies on efficient traffic control in 2018.
The corps marshal of FRSC Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi stated this in Abuja during a news conference on the just concluded Christmas and New Year nation wide operation.
Dr Oyeyemi who expressed satisfaction over the reduction in road accidents when compared with the previous years said most of the fatal accidents during the last festivities occurred on urban and states roads.
He commended 19 state governments that had established traffic management agencies and urged others to emulate them as the corps was ready to provide technical support for effective traffic management in the country.
The FRSC boss also told news men that plan was underway to Increase fines for various traffic offences to check the excesses of motorists on the highways.
Dr Oyeyemi also commended the collaboration of stakeholders towards ensuring reduction in road accidents in 2017.
He however said that the corps would leverage on the assistance of security agencies to ensure the safety of Marshals during operations.
While stating that the corps will not tolerate any assault on marshals while on patrol, he assured Nigerians that the corps would continue towards achieving the United Nations decade of action on 50 percent reduction in road accident by the year 2020.
