Flood Disaster: Kogi State Govt Solicits FG Intervention For Victims
Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has sympathized with communities ravaged by flood across the state.
The governor who was addressing newsmen at the government house, Lokoja, expressed concerns over the disaster which he said had continued to persist in view of the presence of rivers Niger and Benue.
Alhaji Bello explained that several communities had been affected by the recent flooding across ten local government areas of the state.
Governor Bello appealed for intervention from the federal government and other donor agencies as the situation he noted had become dire.
While urging residents of flood prone areas to relocate to safer grounds, Governor Bello stressed that government was setting up camps in affected local government councils to provide temporary relief to survivors.
The governor assured those affected that security personnel had been directed to ensure security at the camps.
