FEMA Partners UK, Common Wealth Office On Effective Crisis Management

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency FEMA, is collaborating with the United Kingdom and Common Wealth Office on effective crisis management response to reduce disaster risks in the territory.
The Director General of FEMA, Alhaji Abbas Idriss gave the indication while receiving the UK capacity building Advisor for foreign and common wealth office, Mr Nickolas Martins in Abuja.
The synergy between the Agency and United Kingdom experts is aimed at improving the capacity of FEMA staff and its sister agencies in the territory, on counter-terrorism and crisis management.
The DG of FEMA said the experts would further assist the agency to strengthen its response strategies.
According to the DG, plans were under way to establish a more coordinated Central communication control room in FEMA.
The UK capacity Building Advisor for foreign and common weather office, Mr Martins pledged to build the capacity of FEMA staff to ensure effective service delivery.
Mr Martins further assured, that his team would use their expertise to identify and tackle challenges emanating from ineffective communication centre with a view to enhancing the agency’s response skills and strategy.
