The Federal Capital Territory Administration wants those trading, farming and carrying out illegal motor parks on the fringes of Umar Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, leading to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to desist from such act.
Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Bello gave the directive when he led some top management team, political leaders and some traditional rulers to inspect the area in Abuja.
Malam Bello who frowned at illegal conducts of some residents constituting nuisance to the public, warned that no form of illegal activity on a major gateway into the city center would be tolerated.
While noting that the Adminstration would do everything possible to encourage residents to engage in legitimate economic activities, the Minister however warned that such would not be allowed in unauthorised places.
Bello expressed dissatisfaction on how the communities along the road fringes of the City gate to Bill Clinton Drive, were defacing the environment .
He directed AEPB to sensitize residents and farmers not to plant any crops along the road axis, so as to reduce their burden of loss.
The minister further ordered the immediate removal of all illegal structures, markets and motor parks along the road fringes.
The Minister also tasked the Ministerial Committee on city sanitation, the Department of Development Control, the Abuja Environmental Protection Board and relevant Security agencies to commence immediate comprehensive sanitation along the road.
Also. the Chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council, Abdullahi Candido, promised that the council would support the administration in the exercise.
Meanwhile, the Sapeyi of Garki Chiefdom, Dr. Usman Nga-Kupi assured the Minister that he would summon all the chiefs of the communities for sensitization.
