FCTA Demolishes Makeshift Houses, Brothels In Jabi
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has demolished makeshift houses and brothels in Daki biyu community, at Jabi District, in continuation of its effort to rid the city of illegal structures.
The Director, Development Control Department, FCTA, Mr Murktar Galadima said the department was committed to the task of ridding off criminals in the territory
Speaking at the scene of the demolition in Daki- biyu in Jabi,Galadima explained that the exercise was geared towards improving sanitation as well as minimise criminal hideouts in the territory.
He vowed that the department would remove all illegal settlement, brothels and shanties constituting security threat and environmental nuisance within the territory.
Mr Galadima who further explained that some of the area demolished had been designated for hospital, said efforts would be made to ensure that Health Secretariat take up the place.
On insecurity issues in the area,Mr Galadima said that a jack knife was recovered from one of the shanties in one of the places demolished,called Sambisa.
“This weapon can be used to lynched someone at night, we even gathered that by 5pm you cannot pass through that place again”.
Similarly, the Chief Security Officer to the FCT Minister, Ahmed Rasheed , reiterated the administration’s commitment to sustain the fight against illegalities .
“We are working with the Department of Development Control and Director of Lands to ensure that the owners of the plot take over so that this kind of illegal settlement will not come back again”
The Palace Secretary of the community, Andy Sanga ,however revealed that most occupants of the shanties were aware of the demolition ,but had no where to go.
