FCTA Arrests 84 Interstate Travellers, Impounds Dangote truck, Buses
The Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA has arrested 84 travellers for violating interstate restrictions.
Those apprehended were travelling in a Dangote truck as well as six other buses.
Addressing journalists, Chairman, FCT Ministerial Enforcement Task team on COVID-19 Restrictions, Comrade Ikharo Attah decried the manner in which Nigerians violate the Presidential restriction on interstate travels.
Attah said; “they were arraigned at the Zuba mobile court where the magistrate, Ebiwari Damini convicted both the drivers and passengers.
“The passengers, excluding minors, were fined N1, 000 naira each, the drivers of the vehicles were fined between three and five thousand naira each”.
The court ruled that the Dangote truck and three other buses be impounded in the FCT until the COVID-19 pandemic is over, while the three buses whose passengers were largely women and children were asked to return back to where they were came from.
