FCT Primary Health Care Board Redoubles Efforts To Eradicate Measles

The FCT Primary Health Care Board, is to vaccinate over 620 thousand children against measles this February.

The Acting executed Secretary of the Board, Dr Matthew Ashikeni gave this indication in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the Board’s preparedness for the exercise.

He said the Board had met with traditional and religious leaders, market women and school managers to ensure that no child within the ages of nine months to five years were left unvaccinated.

Dr Ashikeni explained that the Board had trained 1400 teams to operate in 2753 post across the nooks and crannies of the territory.

He said ” each team has at least seven personnel , Identified over 3998 settlements with the help of GIS. The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello released 23 million Naira as its counterpart funds for the measles campaign.”

The FCT Primary Health Care Board Boss, further urged parents and care givers to keep their measles vaccination cards safe for future reference.
