FCT Agriculture Secretariat Commissions New Meat Haulage System
The FCT Administration has commissioned licenced vehicles designed for meat transportation in the territory.
At the ocassion in Karu, Abuja, the fct Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello represented by the Secretary, FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Mr Stanley Nzekwe, said the new system was geared towards ensuring that residents convey meat in an hygienic manner.
He explained that this development would go a long way to ensure that residents consume healthy livestock in the territory.
The FCT Agriculture Secretary, who thanked the meat stakeholders for keying into the policy, adviced those who are yet to model their vehicles to the approved standard to do so.
On her part, the Head , Fct Veterinary Department, Mrs Regina Adulugba noted that the Agriculture Secretariat had collaborated with Abuja Environmental Protection Board and Security agencies to enforce compliance by all stakeholders in the meat business.
Mrs Adulugba further warned that any one found transporting meat in an unhealthy manner henceforth would be sanctioned.
Also speaking, the chairman Meat Haulage in Karu Abbatoir, Alhaji Sule Isa thanked the government of FCT for identifying with them in their businesses.
Alhaji Isa also used the medium to call on the butchers, transporters and meat sellers to comply with the new Meat haulage policy for healthy purposes.
The Fct Agriculture team led by the Agrculture Secretary ,Mr Stanley Nzekwe also went to Dei- Dei Abbatior to inspect and commissioned the approved vehicles designed for meat Haulage in the area.
