Farmers Advocate Adequate Security For Safe Farming

Potato farming is said to play significant roles to both humans and the economy of plateau state.
It is against this backdrop that the plateau potato value chain in collaboration with INDORAMA fertilizer company organized a two day workshop at Barkin Ladi to educate potato farmers on how to increase production.
Declaring the workshop open, the plateau state potato value chain project coordinator Mr Tathius Yarwa who said Nigeria is one of the countries with the highest potato farmers but still yield less produce said lack of farming skills pose as threat to farming potato.
Acting program manager Plateau Agricultural Development Program Mr Jibarang Yildap said the workshop is aimed at boosting livelihood of the people of Barkin Ladi since over fifty percent of the participants were IDPs.
State sales manager Indorama fertilizer company Mr Musa Ado stressed that incorrect application of fertilizer in the soil is the number one hitch recorded for poor potato production .
Participants showed optimism and called on the government to intensify security to make farming safer and yield better.
