#ENDSARS: Methodist Prelate Advocates Reduction In Cost Of Governance
Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria Most Reverend Samuel Uche-kanu has called on Nigerian Youths not to give room for unpatriotic citizens who are bent on destabilizing the country.
Addressing the congregation during an ordination service held at the Methodist Cathedral of Unify Abuja, Archbishop Uche-kanu stressed the need for them to disband their nationwide protests, exercise patience while the Government is focusing towards addressing their demands and other challenges in the country.
“ I want to advise all the youths to please leave the roads and go home. “If anybody has sent them to cause disorder, they should say no to that person and allow this government to perform. “
“Government has been very magnanimous to appeal to them that they will take care of their requests. “Why are they still protesting? There is more to the protest than meet the eyes. Let them sheath their sword. “I am saying they should not trouble this democratically elected government,’’ the prelate said.
While appreciating their endurance and perseverance, the Methodist Prelate also appealed to the federal government to carry out a comprehensive police reform to meet the current reality in the country.
He advocated for reduction in the cost of governance by cutting the salaries and benefits of political office holders and divert the fund to strengthen the operations of the Nigeria police force.
Archbishop Uche-kanu however urged the government at all levels to come up with new initiatives and programs to address unemployment among the youths.
He advised the newly ordained priests and deaconess to shun material things, embark on aggressive grass roots evangelism and promote Peaceful co existence in the country.
