The Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC has warned Commercial Drivers, Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators against one way driving and total disobedience to traffic rules on Zuba- Gwagwalada- Lokoja Express Way.
The Zuba Unit commander of FRSC Assistant Corps Commandant Elizabeth Benedict who gave the warning during the Ember Months Campaign in Zuba FCT said the attitude of these categories of road users were a great threat to free flow of traffic in the area.
Assistant Corps Commandant Elizabeth maintained that despite many meetings with Union Leaders, the transporters were not cooperating with FRSC for effective traffic management in the corridor.
She appealed to motor parks executives to educate their members against night travels, intake of alcoholic beverages and complement government’s efforts at reducing road accidents in FCT.
In a remark, the Dutse Unit commander of FRSC Assistant Corps Commandant Aderonke Bamidele said adequate Marshals had been mobilised and deployed to check the excesses of motorcycle, Tricycle and other illegal Operations in Sokale, Dutse, Kubwa and all major routes in Bwari Area Council.
Assistant Corps Commandant Bamidele noted that FRSC would continue to work with other traffic management authorities and security agencies to bring sanity to roads in the FCT.
In a message, the FCT Sector Commander Mr Samuel Ochi said the sensitisation campaign would be carried to all motor parks, religious institutions and public place on the need to avoid reckless driving during and after Ember months.
Represented by Mrs Ntaji Helen, the Sector Commander also stressed the need for commercial drivers to avoid over loading, over speeding, use of phone while driving and always plan to take some rest while on a long journey.
