Edo/Ondo Guber: Political Parties Seek Adequate Security During, After Elections
Ahead of the Forthcoming Edo and Ondo states Governorship elections, Security Agencies have been advised to be professional and provide adequate security to citizens during and after the elections in September and November this year.
Guests on Politics Today a Kapital FM Current Affairs programme gave the advice while featuring on the programme with the theme “Roles of security agencies in ensuring good conduct of Edo and Ondo elections: the way forward in protecting lives and property.
One of the Guest who is the National chairman of the people’s party of Nigeria, Mr Eyiowuami Razak said it was the sole responsibility of security agencies to maintain peace and order that is devoid of illegalities.
Mr Razak also urged security agencies not to maltreat electorates or harrass them during polls.
Also speaking on the programme, the National Chairman of All Grand Alliance Party, AGAP, Mr Okay Chikwendu noted that over crowding pooling centers with heavy security might scare voters from exercising their franchise.
Mr Chikwendu also called on politicians to desist from using Tugs to distabilize voting process and snatching of ballot papers.
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to start transmitting results of elections from the pooling Units to the final collation centre to avoid manipulation of any form.
According to the AGAP Chairman transmitting results from all the pooling Units to the collation centre would enhance transparency and fairness during election.
Also contributing to the programme, a caller Mr Emeka from Kuje area council of FCT wants Security Agencies and INEC to be professional and desist from partisan politics to protect the nation’s Democratic principles.
The Guests therefore urged the electorates of the two states to follow INEC guidelines on the forthcoming elections to enable them cast their easily amid the COVID 19 Pandemic.
Residents were also advised to come out en mass and vote for credible candidate that bring development closer to the people.
