As Dr Terrumun Swende Resumes Duty As Chief MD At BSUTH
The newly appointed Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, Dr. Terrumun Swende, an Associate Proffessor of Gynaecologist and Obstetrician has assumed work at the Makurdi hospital.
Dr. Swende is the second CMD of the hospital and has now taken over from the Pioneer CMD, Prof. Orkurga Malu who has completed his two term having served in that capacity since 27th August, 2008.
Speaking during the brief handover ceremony, the outgoing CMD expressed gratitude to God for seeing him through his tenure in office. He likened the change in leadership to the biblical handing over of Moses to Joshua.

Prof. Malu described Dr. Swende who was his student at the University of Jos as a dedicated, hardworking, sincere and focused personality. He said, he was happy handing over to someone who is also not new to the hospital but is already acquainted with the system.
The outgoing CMD urged him to work closely with members of his management team in order to achieve maximum results. He said “When I came here as a member of the academia, I lacked the knowledge over some management issues. What I did was to work closely with my Management team and they were handy to assist in their respective areas. I encourage you to work with them as a team” Prof. Malu charged.
On his part, the incoming CMD, Dr. Swende expressed gratitude to God, Governor Samuel Ortom and his colleagues for considering him worthy of the assignment. He said that he has already learned a lot from Prof. Malu not just as a student but even in working with him.
Swende promised to consolidate on the gains made by Prof. Malu promising to work with members of the Management to ensure the core values of establishing the hospital are realized.
Until his appointment as the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Swende was the Dean, faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, Benue State University, Makurdi.
Nigerians have had series of health scare experiences and continue to seek solutions from Management, to staff, products, services and conducive enviroment. Patients as well as workers have continued to ask better health care delivery of services.
Congratulations, Dr Swende, As you resume duty, these issues still stare in our faces and so, we are all expectant and eager to experience the ‘dedicated, hardworking, sincere and focused’ appraisal given you, by your predecessor.
