Twenty eight communities In Plateau state have received cheques of different amounts totaling over N70billion as first tranche for the implementation of their micro projects through the state community and social development agency.
Governor Simon Lalong made the presentation of the cheques to the benefiting communities from seven Local Government Areas at the Zunji event centre in Jos.
Presenting the cheques to the benefiting communities, Governor Lalong gave an assurance that government would continue to support the development of poor communities in the state.
The Governor warned the beneficiaries to ensure that the funds received were used for the purpose meant, as government will not hesitate to sanction any community that defaults.
General Manager of the Plateau State Community and Social Development Agency, Felicity Gurumyen said the total of fifty-nine projects are expected at the end of the implementation.
Responding, representative of the benefiting communities, Inuwa Santi described government’s commitment in social and community development projects as commendable and promised to judiciously use the funds as well as ensure timely completion of the projects.
The projects to be executed by the benefiting communities include electrification, drilling of hand pumps boreholes, construction of clinic and box culverts among others.
The benefiting Local Government, include, Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Jos East and Pankshin.
Others are Kanke, Shendam and Langtang North Local Government areas.
