The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN has called on aggrieved protesters to stop the on going wanton destruction of public facilities to avert economic consequences on Nigerians.
President of the association Reverend Olasupo Ayokunle who made call in Abuja said the action would inflict pains on Nigerians working in these places and result in loss of jobs.
While calling on government to respond softly to calm the situation, Reverend Ayokunle also appealed to security agencies to fish out those personnel that shot at youths carrying out peaceful protest in Lagos state.
He advised the federal government to compile names of victims and compensate families of those affected across the country.
Reverend Ayokunle however stressed the need for authorities to urgently involve traditional and religious leaders as well as reputable non governmental organizations in addressing the present situation before it gets out of control.
He said CAN condoles with those whose families were affected and expressed optimism that the country would come out from its challenges.
Reverend Ayokunle assured Nigerians of CAN prayers for peace, unity and national development.
