Bulletless Arsenal Suffer Embarrassing Defeat To Sheffield Utd In Thrilling Premier League Clash

Arsenal’s hopes of moving to third on the Premier League standings were dashed on Monday night, October 21, after suffering a 1-0 embarrassing defeat to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
Lys Mousset’s first half goal was the only difference that separated the two sides, with the Frenchman capitalising on Arsenal’s defensive blunder to find the back of the net.
The Gunners started the match brightly, dominating the opening exchanges of the encounter as the home side struggled to settle in.
The Unai Emery-tutored side however wasted glorious goalscoring chances and had an early penalty appeal brushed off, before Nicolas Pepe failing to add a finishing touch to an Arsenal attack moments later.
Sheffield United went on to punish their visitors in the 30th minute as Mousset put the home side ahead, beating Bernd Leno after benefiting from O’Connell’s well-placed pass.
Emery was forced to make tactical changes in the second-half of the match, with Dani Ceballos replacing Joe Willock at the break, before Alexander Lacazette coming on for Granit Xhaka.
However, the pair made no difference, with the hosts holding on to claim maximum points before their fans.
The victory subsequently fired the Blades to ninth on the log with 12 points, as Arsenal dropped out of the top four into fifth place.
