The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar says alternative sources of funding is needed to adequately meet the training and operational needs of the Air Force.
He stated this at an interview after a budget defense session with the House of Representatives committee on Air Force.
Commending the National Assembly for their support, the Air Force boss stressed the need for the legislature to look beyond the annual budget to alternative sources of funding for security agencies.
Abubakar added that public private partnership arrangement, percentage interest from financial institutions, as well as levying certain charges on mobile phone users to facilitate security Agencies operations should be considered .
He noted that this became necessary given the expensive nature of the Air Force institution which requires a lot of resources to function adding that they were working closely with the legislative to make Nigeria a more secured country.
Earlier the chairman of the committee Samson Okwu from Benue State pledged the committees readiness to support the Air Force in areas of researches, capacity building and welfare of their officers.
