Breaking: FCT Orders Shut Down Of Markets, Cautions Against Panic Buying
The FCT Administration has ordered the immediate shut down of markets in the territory.
FCTA has enjoined residents to remain calm and avoid panic buying as essential commodities will still be sold to consumers
The Minister of State for FCT , Dr Ramatu Tijani Aliyu who gave the advise in Abuja , noted that the Administration has put measures in place to increase surveillance across the six area councils of the territory in view of the COVID 19 pandemic that is ravaging the globe.
According to Dr Aliyu, the adminstration only permits those selling foodstuffs, pharmacies supermarkets, and bakeries to remain opened, but abide strictly by laid down rules.
On the issue of stigmatization of affected persons, Dr Aliyu said there should be no cause for stigmatization, as COVID 19 is no respecter of anybody and not peculiar to FCT.
On his part, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma advise residents and worship places to comply with the ministerial directives, as the police and all other security agencies would be enforcing the order without any fear or favour.
