Bill For Establishment Of Fed University Of Health Sciences Otukpo Passes Second Reading

The bill for the establishment of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue state has passed second reading at the senate.
The sponsor of the bill, senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South, in his lead debate, explained that the institution would increase the number of medical practitioners in the country.
He also noted that establishment of the university would bridge the gap of health challenges in country. According to the lawmaker, president Muhammadu Buhari had given approval for the establishment of the university but needed legislative backing.
In a remark, the president of the senate, Ahmad Lawan, described the bill as important to the nation’s health sector and appealed to his colleagues to support the bill. He later referred it to the senate committee on Tertiary institutions and Tertiary Education Trust Fund and to report back in four weeks.
