Biafra marks the 50th year since the war was fought and so a one-day conference is underway at the Yar’Adua centre, Abuja, to look back and acknowledge this bit of our history.
The aim of marking Biafra at 50 is to remind us of the idea behind it, the consequences; success or failure, and more importantly, the civil war that the agitation for secession led to and this year, Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, is the keynote speaker which has got a lot of people at the edge of their seats.
Others in attendance include; H. E. Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof. John Stremlau, Alhaji Ahmed Joda and a host of other important people.
Here are photos from the location
Following the media publicity of Biafra50, some Nigerians don’t think this is worth celebrating. Others see it as a necessity if the Nigerian history deserves preservation.
