The new Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Okon Etim-Ene has promised to adopt community policing, intelligence gathering and proactive approaches to tackle crimes in the state.
Mr. Etim-Ene made the promise when he paid Governor Samuel Ortom a courtesy visit at Benue People’s House, Makurdi.
The Commissioner of Police stressed that no meaningful development can take place in an unsecured environment and appealed for the support of the state Government to ease their operations.
He assured that the force would partner with sister security agencies to ensure that Benue retains her appellation as food basket of the nation.
Responding, Governor Ortom expressed optimism that the new Commissioner of Police would bring his experience from the war college to bear on the security situation in the state.
The Governor also charged the new Commissioner of Police to ensure that professional ethics of the force were not compromised and called on the people to assist security agencies with useful information that would make their operations easier.
