Super Falcons coach Florence Omagbemi has said she will be making some changes to her team that will play against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the final of the Africa Women Cup of Nations on Saturday. Nigeria beat South Africa 1-0 on Tuesday night to book their place in the final against Cameroon.
It was a repeat of the 2014 edition where the Super Falcons beat Cameroon 2-0 to win their 7th AWCON tittle.
“We will make some adjustments against Cameroon. The hard fought semi-final against South Africa has prepared us for the final game,” Omagbemi said. She stated that in the match against the Banyana Banyana, the Falcons were overwhelmed by the occasion, but were able to calm down.
“The players carried the game too much and psychologically some of them were overwhelmed. In the second half, we asked them to relax and play simple. Meanwhile, former Super Falcons midfielder, Stella Mbachu has backed the team to beat Cameroon.
“I charge Falcons to go all out to beat Cameroon as they did two years ago in Namibia. The pressure will be on Cameroon to impress before her people so Falcons must be calm and take their chances. I see Falcons successfully defending their title at the expense of Cameroon,”she stressed.
