The Commander Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Adeyemi Yekini has assured that armed militants disturbing the peace of Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States will be overcome as soon as possible.
General Yekini gave the assurance today when Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state paid him a condolence visit over a soldier who was killed during an altercation between the force and the militants.
He said the operation was determined more than ever not only to expel the armed militants but to ensure that the place is peaceful enough for the the Internally Displaced Persons to return to their ancestral homes.
The Commander of the Operation Whirl Stroke thanked Governor Samuel Ortom for the support he has given the operation, especially his visit to the hospitals to see the personnel who were injured during the altercation and sued for sustenance.
Governor Samuel Ortom commended the operation of the job they have done so far in keeping the armed militia to at bay, noting that without their efforts Benue State would have been long overrun.
The Governor also appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the operation and expressed hope that in no distance time Benue State would become peaceful.
Correspondent Terna Injua reports that at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital where some of the wounded soldiers are being treated, the Governor settled the medical bills of a little girl whose hands were chopped off by the armed militants.
