AKWA-IBOM CAUCUS CALLS FOR CANCELLATION OF THE STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

electionThe Akwa-Ibom Caucus in the National Assembly has called for the cancellation of the April eleventh Governorship Election in the State.

The Chairman of the Caucus, Senator Aloysius Etuk representing Akwa-Ibom North West made the call while briefing National Assembly correspondents.

Senate Etuk explained that the election was marred by irregularities which portrayed the State in bad light, and was not a reflection of the wishes of the people.

He noted that cancellation of the result would engender peace among all the ethnic groups in the State.

Another Member of the Caucus, Senator Ita Enang representing Akwa-Ibom North West said no card reader was used during the Governorship election urging INEC to withdraw the result it had earlier announced.

Senator Enang also appealed to the Government to mop up illegal arms from the State.
