Agency Tasks Media On Effective Reportage To Combat Environmental Degradation

The National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) under the ministry of environment has called for concerted efforts and support among Nigerians as well as government at all levels towards addressing the menace of environmental degradation and climate change.

The Director General of the agency, Mr Goni Ahmed made the call during a courtesy visit by the executives of Nigeria Association of Women journalists (NAWOJ) FCT, in Abuja.

Mr Ahmed who described environmental scourge as one of the major factors causing problems in the country, called for more publicity on the part of media to combat it.

He also stressed the need to create vibrant and sustainable rural communities through strategic investments in social and economic infrastructure that would address the basic human needs.

According to the DG, security and migration issues will be minimized if the deserved attention is given to compliment the effort of the agency.

Earlier, the Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, Com. Stella Okoh-Esene who commended the commitment of the agency in providing essential services that contribute to the development of human welfare and poverty eradication, pledged the support of the association in effective reportage.

Also speaking, the former president of NAWOJ, Mrs Evelyn Onyilo expressed optimism that the synergy/partnership already established by the agency and the association would go along way in addressing the menance
