Mobile Court of Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB, has convicted 77 people including motorists for violating COVID 19 protocols in Life Camp, Abuja.
The accused were convicted for their failure to wear face mask and maintaining social distancing in vehicles.
Speaking to newsmen after the court sitting, the AEPB Prosecutor, Mr Mr Arome Tokula said the accused contravened the provision of COVID 19 health protection regulation 2021 in pursuant to quarantine Act section 4.
According to Mr Tokula, the accused were given various fines and option of community service of sweeping the street of Life Camp for one hour.
He expressed concern over the attitude of some residents of FCT towards the use of face masks.
The Prosecutor said the Board would continue to sanction violators of COVID 19 protocols.
Mr Tokula stated that the exercise would be a continuous one through out the city centre of the FCT.
He therefore advised residents of the FCT to always comply with COVID 19 protocols to combat the spread of the virus in the Territory.
He emphasized that the fight against COVID 19 required the cooperation of all Nigerians through environmental hygeine and obedience to all regulations against the pandemic.
