The Faculty of Social Science, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the International Institute for Security and Governance Studies are set to hold a conference to honour women who have excelled in their chosen professions especially in the fields of security, defence, law enforcement and judiciary.
The dean of the faculty of social sciences, Professor Paul Pindar Izah who made this known in a press release noted that despite their enormous contributions in these fields most women are not identified and celebrated.
According to him the ultimate objective of the conference which however is a median one would identify and celebrate hard work, integrity, commitment to duty, diligence, bravery, patriotism and nation building as demonstrated by the female gender in these sectors.
His words, ‘it will additionally help to us showcase authentic female role models for our young girls, authentic role models abounds in Nigeria, but they need to be identified, recognized and celebrated”.
“it is high time Nigeria give women their rightful place, because any country that relegates 50% of its population is doomed, education of the girl child is paramount, especially in the North.
Dr David Okoror of the International Institute of Security and Governance studies (IISGS) , who doubles as the director, conference and awards said “the honor awards principally would be for women and organizations in the following sectors of security, defence, law enforcement and judiciary.
This is following the well known tradition of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria to promote initiative that supports rapid and holistic national development process, where no group or section is left behind”.
“The conference will provide a forum for women to network and address peculiar gender issues that will enhance their output and performance on and off their jobs, the awards will recognise, honor, reward and celebrate the significant achievements of women in these sectors. Achievements which ordinarily would have gone unnoticed”.

The conference is slated to commence next month in Abuja .
