26 April 2017 Blog

Choosing a name for your new baby happens differently for couples. It may come naturally and quickly while for some it could take a while or they may request the help of a wise relative to do the honours. Either way, we all seek meaningful and unique names for our kids and this list has both.

We bring to you nine names from popular Disney pictures that we love and are now popular.

Baby Names
1. NALA From THE LION KINGLion King baby names

Nala is the lion cub who was Simba’s best friend from childhood who later became his love interest, ally and eventually his wife. Such a cute baby name.

2. SEBASTIAN From THE LITTLE MERMAID

The bright red crap who seemed wise and handsome with his wonderful accent. The name Sebastian is Latin and it means person from the ancient city of Sebasta. Sebasta is an ancient city in Asia Minor which is present-day Turkey.

3. JASMINE From ALADDIN

Looking back on it I wonder how Jasmine and Aladdin’s love never felt weird. Plus, it’s not everyday you see a street rat marrying a princess seem weird at all and Jasmine was every bit the princess from the way she sashayed to her awesome beauty.

Jasmine is a good name that feels noble and playful.

4. ELSA From FROZEN

We all loved Elsa and we all love the name although it would be weird if everyone made reference to the cartoon every single time your name was mentioned right?

The name Elsa means Pledged To God can be traced to German origins although it is also diminutive form of Elisabeth.

5. ANDY From TOY STORY

The kids-classic and high-grossing animation has popularized the name Andy. Although the name is derivative of Andrew, it is quite popular as a name all by itself and ranks at #323 on nameberry. You can check it out for more baby names.

6. COLETTE From RATATOUILLE

The popular paradoxical cartoon which features a rat who cooks delicious food. Although not probable, it is exciting to see. Colette is the only female cook in Chef Skinner’s kitchen at Gusteau’s and it was she who defended Linguini from being fired as a garbage boy when Skinner caught him cooking the soup in which Remy had made. The name sounds royal and very unique.

It just reminds you of someone dependable and strong, but still cute.

7. ARIEL From THE LITTLE MERMAID

No one hears the name without remembering the beautiful mermaid with a voice of gold? The name Ariel is of Hebrew origin and means Lion Of God. Sweet huh? Definitely one of the cutest baby names around.

8. ALICE From ALICE IN WONDERLAND

This could arguably be Disney’s most popular story with several remakes of it done in cartoon and in film. The character, Alice, who falls down a rabbit hole, has a name that would suit any adorable little girl.

9. WINNIE From WINNIE THE POOH

Winnie is the title character who is the most popular character in the cartoon. Although the name is commonly used for girls, it can be used for boys too seeing as the original Winnie is a male character.
