2018 Budget For 21 LGA’s Passes First Reading In Kogi State

Speaker kogi state house of assembly Prince Mathew Kolawole has urged members to take their legislative duties seriously.
The speaker who gave the charge at an emergency sitting of the house also used the plenary to welcome them back from the recess and into the new year.
While expressing the hope that the new year would be a more fruitful one Prince Kolawole enjoined members to carryout their oversight functions at committee levels as mandated by the constitution.
Meanwhile a bill for a law to provide for the revenue and expenditure of kogi state government for the year ending 31st December 2018 passed second reading on the floor of the house.
Leading the debate the majority leader Hassan Bello Abdulahi said the 2018 budget estimate of over 147 billion naira was presented by the governor to allocate the scarce resources of the state to critical areas of development.
In his contribution the member representing Ankpa 1 Ahmed Mohammed said the budget estimate should be given accelerated passage as it is a well thought out estimate
In his ruling the speaker Prince Mathew Kolawole committed the budget estimate to the house committee on economic planning, budget monitoring and public accounts.
Also a bill for a law to provide for the revenue and expenditure for the 21 local government areas of kogi state for the year ending 31st December 2018 passed first reading.
