2 Pupils Die After Eating Birthday Biscuit In Abuja Primary School

At least Two pupils of the LEA primary school, Kubwa, Abuja, have been confirmed dead after allegedly eating biscuits shared by a student during school hours as part of birthday celebration.

Confirming the incident to journalists in the school premises, the Chairman , Bwari Area Council, Mr Musa Dikko who spoke for the FCTA and the School management, gave the names of the two Pupils as Nehima Yahaya, 14year old in primary five and Yahaya Garuba 14 year old in primary four.

He explained that the two dead pupil was allegedly linked to eating biscuits from an allegedly organised birthday party on Tuesday in the school premises by a person yet to be identified .

He also said another death occurred to Moses Sunday, a seven year old pupil in primary one, allegedly linked to a fight he had with some persons yet to be identified.

According to Mr Dikko, two other cases involving Aisha Isah and Asiya Haruna are at the Kubwa General Hospital Abuja with the Doctors trying to ascertain what they are suffering from.

A police in Kubwa, CSP Ayobami Surajudeen said investigations are ongoing to get to the root cause of the deaths.

The Director, Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Adamu Noma said the FCT Administration with the help of Security Agencies would do everything possible to unravel the cause of the unfortunate incident.

Dr Noma urged staff of the school to remain in their duty post.

At the moment, School activities has been suspended till Monday 26th February for further investigation.

Earlier,Some FCT Education stakeholders visited Kubwa General Hospital over the issue.
