The Nigerian bar association has appealed to stakeholders in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections to respect the wishes of the electorate and to accept the results of the elections when announced by INEC.
President of the NBA, Mr. Augustine Alegeh (SAN), in an interim post-election statement made available to Kapital FM in Abuja, commends Nigerians for conducting themselves peacefully during election.
According to the statement,the NBA hopes that lessons learned from the elections will guide INEC in its preparations for the Governorship and State House Assembly elections scheduled to hold on the 11th of April, 2015.
It adds that the conduct of Security Agencies, Election Observers, Party Agents and INEC Officials, is worth commending, despite the hitches associated with the card readers.
The statement enjoins the electorate, and the political parties to continue in the spirit of sportsmanship even in the next elections, so as to engender peaceful co-existence and development in the country.
