1 Africa Iniative Holds peaceful protest against xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

It is certainly no longer news that Nigerians in South African and other Africans have been a subject of xenophobic attacks in that country

It is on this note that Nigerians in Abuja held a peaceful protest organized by 1 Africa Initiative against the xenophobic attacks with the theme: WE ARE ONE AFRICA AND TOGETHER WE WILL FIGHT XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS ON AFRICANS AND TOGETHER WE WILL CONQUER.

The peaceful protest according to the convener of the event Barrister Paul Edeh, was to bring African’s together in unity and fight against the xenophobic attacks in south Africa in order to call for immediate resolution to the matter.

Responding, the south African High Commissioner Mr. Lulu Mnguni while condemning the act, assured Nigerians that the south African government was working hard to end the crisis.

At the Human Rights Commission, A media personality popularLy known as ordinary Ahmed Isah while expressing his grievances urged the commission to rise up to the occasion and stop the xenophobic attacks against Nigerians.

A director in the commission Mrs Oti Ovrawa who expressed displeasure at the situation said the Nigerian government was working hard to protect its citizens in the south African country.

On the placards were written boldly xenophobic attack is a crime, “president Zuma arise and act” ” We wont Rest until Nigerians are safe” and many others.

Other Places visited include the United States Embassy and some major South Africa companies in Nigeria.
